Runs The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Lichii Build 93 – Significant AMD Progress, but Lighting Flickering and Performance Issues Remain
What happened
I wanted to share some positive feedback and report the remaining issues with Lichii NX2 Build 93 (09b78bd) while testing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition.
System specifications:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT
OS: Windows 11
Graphics API: Vulkan
GPU Accuracy: Fast
Mode: Docked
Resolution: 1X
Game update: 1.1.1
Improvements observed:
Compared to Build 88, Build 93 shows significant progress on my AMD GPU.
Previously, the game would get stuck compiling shaders or display a black screen. With Build 93, I was able to:
Complete the initial shader compilation and reach the main menu.
Play through the opening cinematics.
Successfully render the 3D environment.
Reach Kokiri Forest and control Link during actual gameplay.
Save the game, restart the emulator, and successfully load the saved game using Continue.
Reload approximately 1,375 cached shaders on the second launch.
Remaining issues:
Severe lighting flickering: Lights, glow effects, and certain environmental elements constantly flash or flicker during gameplay.
Incorrect lighting and overexposure: Some lighting effects appear excessively bright or visually corrupted.
Performance: Gameplay reaches approximately 24 FPS in Kokiri Forest, while menus and some cinematics run at approximately 30 FPS. Some sequences experience significant slowdowns.
Audio synchronization: Audio becomes noticeably desynchronized during cinematics.
Shader compilation: Initial shader compilation takes a considerable amount of time.
The lighting issues persist even after restarting the emulator and loading the cached shaders.
Conclusion:
Build 93 is a major improvement for my AMD RX 6900 XT. For the first time with Lichii on this GPU, I can reach actual 3D gameplay instead of getting stuck on a black screen.
However, the lighting flickering, graphical artifacts, and performance issues still prevent a smooth gameplay experience.
Thank you to the developers for the AMD and Vulkan fixes. The progress between Build 88 and Build 93 is very noticeable, and I hope these results help with further debugging and optimization.
I can provide gameplay recordings or logs if needed.
How far they got
Save the game, restart the emulator, and successfully load the saved game using Continue.
